Please note: Joan Mitchell Foundation is not currently offering any studio or portfolio development classes. Through the end of 2017, the Foundation is focusing on research and piloting innovative educational opportunities for the artist community. We look forward to sharing the new education model with you in 2018.

Young Artist Residencies provide student artists the opportunity to create work in environments that are catalysts for creativity. These scholarships provide 8 students annually with access to ideal working facilities and educators that allow young artists to focus on their art exploration and portfolio development goals. Our Young Artist Residencies come in the form of scholarship opportunities to two dedicated studio schools, the Ashcan Studio of Art in New York City, and Oxbow School of Art in Napa, California.

Year-long College Portfolio Preparation classes at Ashcan Studio of Art
