As Director of Information Technology and Facilities at the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Derrick Biney-Amissah ensures that the Foundation's sites in New York and New Orleans are able to support its programs, functions and mission in terms of technology, infrastructure, and sustainability. He studied philosophy and fine art at Georgetown University and received an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute. Working in academic administration and on various capital and curriculum enhancing projects, including media lab, digital studio, and exhibition space build outs for more than a decade at Pratt Institute's Media Arts Department and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he developed a strong interest in organizational design, applied technology, and leveraging the power of creative collaborations to affect institutions and society. He maintains an art practice as a painter at his Lower Manhattan studio. He is also actively engaged in social justice movements at the Riverside Church in New York City.
