Middle School Portfolio Preparation
This workshop series is specifically designed for students planning to apply to the New York City high schools that specialize in the arts. The workshops provide an overview of the schools and individualized assessments of student portfolios.
Participants have the opportunity to hone their interviewing and communication skills, while strengthening their portfolios through drawing assignments and how-to demonstrations. These sessions take place annually in September and October.
In partnership with the Museum of Arts and Design, Student Opportunities and Support has produced a booklet to help prepare students and parents for applying to NYC Specialized Art High Schools. The booklet includes important dates, information on how to prepare for auditions, tips on how to build a portfolio, samples of successful student portfolios, and more. The resource booklet is available for download on our Resources page.
Please note: the Middle School Portfolio Preparation series now takes place at the Joan Mitchell Foundation Education & Research Center, located at: 137 West 25th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001. For any questions, contact the Art Education department at (212) 524-0001.
