Explore the extraordinary career of Joan Mitchell with Sarah Roberts, Senior Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Joan Mitchell Foundation and curator of Mitchell's 2021 retrospective. This three-part course traces Mitchell's journey from 1940s Chicago through New York and Paris, examining how her distinctive abstract style was shaped by post-impressionist masters and her contemporaries in the Abstract Expressionist movement.
