Jessica Lagunas is a New York-based Guatemalan artist. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Everhart Museum (PA), the Art Museum of the Americas (Washington, DC), the International Festival of Contemporary Arts–City of Women (Slovenia), the Jersey City Museum (NJ), Bronx Museum (NY), among others; and in biennials including Pontevedra (Spain), El Museo del Barrio (NY), Tirana (Albania), Cuenca (Ecuador), Caribbean (Dominican Republic), and Paiz (Guatemala). Lagunas is a Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant recipient (2014) and a Bronx Council on the Arts BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Grantee (2016). She has received fellowships from the Urban Artist Initiative and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, and has been awarded residencies in New York City from El Museo del Barrio, Wave Hill, the Center for Book Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council at Governors Island, and Bronx Museum’s Artist in the Marketplace.
