Joan Mitchell Foundation

Copyright Request Form

The Joan Mitchell Foundation administers copyright permissions for images of works by Joan Mitchell as well as selected archival material in the Foundation’s collection. All reproductions of work by Joan Mitchell must be accompanied by the credit line © Estate of Joan Mitchell. Additional credit and/or caption text may be required depending on usage and image source. Credit lines for archival material will be specified in the license agreement.

Please note that almost all fields must be completed in order to submit this form. This is to ensure that the Foundation receives all relevant information required to draw up a license agreement.

Please note that if permission for reproduction is granted, the image of the licensed work must be shown in its entirety without cropping, overwriting, bleeding, distortion, or any other alteration, unless prior written approval from the Foundation is delivered to the Licensee.

All proposed uses of the image(s) are subject to the Foundation’s advance review and approval. The Foundation expects at least thirty (30) days advance delivery of mock-ups, proofs, or other materials submitted for the Foundation’s review and approval, and the Foundation will exercise reasonable efforts to respond promptly.

The Foundation must promptly be provided a courtesy copy of all print uses and/or links to digital uses of the images.
