Patricia Fernández Carcedo (b.1980 Burgos, Spain) lives and works in Los Angeles. She studied at Saint Martins College of Art in London (2000), University of California, Los Angeles (2002), and received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts (2010). She was an Artist in Residence at Forest Island (2018), D-Flat, México (2016), Récollets, Paris (2016), Headlands Center for the Arts (2015), and The City of Bordeaux (2013). She is a recipient of the Pollock Krasner Grant (2017), California Community Foundation Fellowship (2011), France Los Angeles Exchange Grant (2012), and Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant (2010). She has exhibited her work at Commonwealth & Council, the Hammer Museum, LA><ART, and Orange County Museum of Art. Forthcoming exhibitions include Art Basel Positions in Miami (2019) and Not I, a group show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (2020).

Through a complex network of forms and information, I seek to investigate histories and literatures forgotten, misplaced, and buried. My interest in history, a materialization of the forgotten, and the labor-intensive actions of hand-carving, re-writing, and painting, stem from a desire to re-perform the past to better understand the present.”
