Veronique Le Melle
Interim Director
As the Interim Director of the Joan Mitchell Center, Veronique Le Melle guides the artist residency program, and oversees the Center’s day-to-day operations. Veronique has a 30-year career as an executive in arts management, leading arts and cultural organizations and elevating opportunity for supporting artists in communities across the nation. In 2018, she began shifting focus to multiple consulting projects. Her services range from general administration and interim management to executive coaching. Her client list includes both small and large nonprofit organizations, private foundations, and government agencies.
Before becoming an independent consultant, Veronique was the Executive Director of Artpace, where she built on the organization’s rich history to develop new programmatic directions and enhanced community outreach to more than double its exhibition attendance. Previously President and CEO of the Boston Center for the Arts (BCA), Veronique revitalized BCA programs, spearheaded initiatives to increase services for working artists, and explored ways to connect with youth and community organizations in Boston’s vibrant South End.
Prior to her work in Boston, Le Melle directed a number of arts and cultural organizations, including the Louisiana Division of the Arts, and served as Director of Cultural Affairs & Tourism for the Queens Borough President’s Office.
