About Wendy Red Star
Wendy Red Star holds a BFA from Montana State University, Bozeman, and an MFA in sculpture from University of California, Los Angeles. Raised on the Apsáalooke (Crow) reservation in Montana, she now lives and works in Portland, OR. Red Star has exhibited widely in the United States and abroad. She has served as a visiting lecturer at institutions including Yale University, the Figge Art Museum, the Banff Centre, National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Dartmouth College, and CalArts. In 2015, Red Star was awarded an Emerging Artist Grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. In 2017, she received the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, and in 2018, the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship. In 2019, Red Star will have her first mid-career survey exhibition at the Newark Museum in New Jersey.
